My name is Kathryn Thompson, and I will be your child’s 4th Grade Math and Science Teacher. Most likely you and I will be spending more time with your child in the upcoming year than any other adult. Because of this I would like to take this opportunity to tell you a few things about myself-both personally and professionally.
I was born and raised in Roanoke, Virginia. I did my student teaching at Cumberland County Elementary School. I graduated from Longwood University with a bachelor of science in Liberal Studies in 2007. I went to Cave Spring High School. I am certified to teach PreK-6 in Virginia. This will be my 12th year teaching. I formerly taught in Nottoway County near Farmville Va where I taught 5th and 6th grade Virginia History and US History for four years. I then taught all subjects in third grade for two years. Then my son Henry was born in 2013 so I asked to move down to second grade which I taught for two years. This is my fourth year at Morningside Elementary School.
We moved back to Roanoke during the summer of 2016 to be closer to my family as we started raising our own family. My parents live here and I grew up here. I graduated from Cave Spring High School.
I live with my husband Robert, my son Henry and my daughter Harper. I love hanging out with my family and being Henry's and Harper's mommy. I love to read especially historical fiction, my favorite color is blue, and my favorite Disney movie is Beauty and the Beast.
